How do we know when someone is having one?

At the moment they are marked on the calendar, which you can access right under the big green Home/Forums/Blogs/What's New banner.

I just checked the calendar and my birthday doesn't show up. Is there some special setting that has to be changed?

It's in your Settings : Edit profile

I need more help. My profile already has my birthday in it, but I can't see anywhere in "Edit Profile" that sets my birthday to show up in the calendar. Or is just having my birthday in there supposed to do the trick?

This one has me stumped. I checked BarbiQ's settings against mine (as far as birthdays go) and they are the same. Yet mine shows on the calendar, and hers doesn't.

Sheryll, I didn't do anything in particular to "show" my birthday. The tech-savy mods (Rose, aurora, SteveJ) may be able to sort this out.

OK, so I checked and Wizbin was right - the settings were the same....but sometimes the computer forgets to read the settings...so if you want your birthday to show in the calendar go into

Settings (at top of forum) > My settings (side bar)>Edit my profile> Privacy > Choose "Display full age and date of birth" > Save (at bottom of screen)

Even if you had that checked, select something else, reselect, then save...it should work.

OK, so I checked and Wizbin was right - You doubted me? :poke:
;)
The only other thing I noticed, was that I had reset my time zone to my local timezone, and BarbiQs was still on the default. Probably has absolutely nothing to do with the calendar display problem, but putting it out there just in case. Barbara, if you are reading this...this discussion isn't directed at you personally, I just used you as a test case. Feel special. :D

Thank you, thank you! :thankyousign: That worked.

While checking that my birthday was added to the calendar, I saw a number of members who have (2012) after their name. What is that supposed to mean?

All it means is that they did not choose a year of birth. With the exception of aRna, I notice that they are all people who have not yet checked in (and may never do so).
