oh good one Kyrial - I need to get photos and someone posted some great info about a place on line - I think you have to do the paperwork on line now

I went to the https://www.passports.gov.au/Web/Forms/EntryPoint.aspx website and completed most of the forms online (they store your application which is good if you need to reprint). Then you can print it, get the signatures and photos etc. and mail it in.
I did the photos myself, just followed the rules.

Kyrial, last time I did it I had to go into San Francisco as it was the passport was for one of my kids. I did download the form off the website. It was super easy and they were really nice. It turned out the photos I had were wrong.. you can't smile, but they sent me to a Walgreens about a block away that was familiar with how Australia wants the photos. Took them back and got the passport in the mail in about a week

When we forgot that our six year old's passport had run out we did the forms online as well and there was a place in Arlington Tx that did the photos thankfully. The turn around from Washington was remarkably fast. We fedexed it there on Saturday and it was back by the following Tuesday after they called me on Monday to make sure everything was right.

I use this site: http://www.epassportphoto.com/ hasn't failed me yet. I've used it for US visa stuff and for my Aussie passport renewal. I'll use it for the UK stuff as well.
