Removalists

Our family is moving from Tassie to Arizona in a few months. Can you give any recommendations as to AUS-based removalists, specifically any to avoid? We are looking at Wridgways, Allied Pickfords and Chess Prices at the moment.

first of all Welcome - I know of Allen Pickford from our days in Asia they were big - don't know the others - just make sure you ask all the right questions for example who does the clearance on the other end and is it included in the price or is it extra

We used allied both ways and while we held our breath a bit on the way back to Aus all was fine.

I used OSS when I moved here and can't recommend them highly enough. Their prices are very very competetive.

Welcome to MUO - fellow Taswegian here - now in Ohio. I used Allied - price was good, they were a little slack in getting my stuff on the boat!

I used Wridgways when my wife moved from USA to Oz in 2000 and all went well. Price ok and nothing damaged. When we came back to USA in 2008 we used Allied and they were great. I would use Allied again. One thing to be aware of is that you do need to have the removal company do the packing for you. I started to pack up some boxes myself but discovered that it is a US Customs requirement that the removal company that is doing the move sight all items to pass the US Customs paperwork.
