How are our repats? I've been MIA for a while, and I've totally lost touch with you all. Care to fill me in?
All going well here Rose, just celebrated 4 years in Oz a few weeks ago and hubby gets Aussie Citizenship on Australia Day oi oi oi! Both boys will be in High School this year (Mitchell turns 13, Matthew 16) which will make life a little easier. I've decided to do a career change, going back to being a Flight Attendant parttime on a private jet. I worked fulltime (school hours) last year and really didn't like it (last time I did that was in 1988!!) so with a change of work, I can work 4 days per month and make the same wage as working fulltime at school. I will miss the kids but have made some life-long friends at the school, so nothing will change that! Hubby is still flying but has some stuff up his sleeve...stay tuned on that...
p.s. I had to start a whole new profile as I had no clue what my password was....
There ya go, Paula. All fixed.
Nice to hear what you've been up to. The kids are in high school?? When did they grow up so fast? And best of luck with the new job! :) Miss you.

this repat's been back in aussieland for over six years now... boy did that time fly!!! like paula, i'm having a career change too... going from classroom slave to teaching. just waiting for the job offers to pour in (or relief teaching, i dont care). i plan on moving when my lease expires at the beginning of october. will be staying in the outer northern 'burbs, but have to get away from the crappy neighbours and all the ferals who have moved in around the corner (more nice new public housing properties that'll be trashed within months). daughter is still living with me, and i honestly think she'll never move out, not because she has it good here (believe me, she doesnt), but because of her chronic social anxiety...

Been back 8 yrs this year(I think) seems like 3, I guess thats a good thing :) Finally settled *touch wood* and life is good.
We are thinking of doing a dust change lol as opposed to sea change or tree change and going outback NSW well maybe not too Outback as I would need to see the ocean occasionally.
Tanya, sorry about your daughter. Is she seeing anyone about that?
Lolls, I think I would find outback NSW very hard. Like you, I can't be too far from the sea.

I cant believe we have been back for two years. Hervey Bay is an excellent place for raising children. Lots of sun and sea and close enough to Brisbane for me if I need to go there. I don't miss living in the US (as short and sweet as it was for me) but we try to go back annually. Hopefully hubby and boys will be back for mid year school break to give mum a little holiday at home. I do miss the shopping and the ten suitcases we brought back a few weeks ago are a testament to that. I now work with the elderly and love it. This is my year for getting healthy. I could take or leave the sea. In fact if it wasn't so expensive to live in Alice Springs now I am sure I would be there now. :)

thanks rose :) she's been seeing a psychologist, but is waiting for a new mental health plan from our doctor (got an appointment in a couple of weeks) so she can get more appointments. her job network isnt helping the issue at all, by forcing her to go to job interviews for jobs which are clearly (even to blind freddy) unsuitable for someone with severe social anxiety...
Hi Bellebird - I'm glad you're happy with your move back. How long were you here in total?

I flitted in and out moved in September 08 then pregnant and home again by the end of January and back again in July 09 and home again by January 10..Hubby and big boy stayed in the US during most of that time though. Now it is just holidays and fleeting visits for us. A good choice for our family.
