Tuna Mornay - from Shirl

Here is a recipe that I always get great feed back from when i make it. I mostly cook it the old fashioned way, a bit of this, a dash of that..:-), so i hope it turns out as good as it does here, for people who make it from this recipe. (I guessed the ingredient amounts).

Ingredients:

  • 2 Cans of Tuna (in brine not oil)
  • 2 Tablespoons of butter or margarine
  • 3 Tablespoons of corn starch
  • 2 Cups of milk
  • 1 Cups of tasty cheese
  • About 1 cup of cooked pasta (small spirals or shells work fine)
  • 1 ½ diced carrots, corn and peas.
  • Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Try adding a little paprika to spice it up:-)

Method:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350F
  2. Melt butter and add corn starch. Mix the milk in a little at a time to ensure a smooth consistency.
  3. Add tuna, pasta, cheese, peas, carrots and corn. Stir for a few minutes until sauce thickens.
  4. Pour into greased baking dish and top with some grated cheese and crushed corn flakes/bread crumbs (whatever is handy).
  5. Place in oven until cheese has melted and golden brown (about 15 or 20 minutes). Enjoy!
