Steak & Bacon Pie - from Paula

Ingredients:

  • 2lb beef steak
  • 2 tab.sp oil
  • 1/2 packet of bacon, diced
  • 2 onions chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 teaspoons of mixed herbs
  • 1 pkt of frozen puff pastry
  • 1 cup of beef stock
  • 1 1/2 cups of red wine
  • 4oz of mushrooms sliced
  • 1/4 cup of parsley
  • 2 tab. of flour

Method:

  1. Cut meat in cubes and brown in melted oil and butter in a large saucepan.
  2. Remove meat.
  3. Saute bacon, onion, garlic in the saucepan.
  4. Stir in flour, stock, wine and herbs.
  5. Return meat to pan and simmer for 1 hour (the longer the better on low heat).
  6. Stir in mushrooms and cook for 15 minutes.
  7. Line a 9" greased pie plate with puff pastry sheet, pour in meat.
  8. Cover with puff pastry sheet, brush with milk.
  9. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes or until brown.
