Savoury Mince - from Belle

Ingredients:

  • 1 Tbsp melted butter or oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 500 gm mince
  • 1-cup water
  • 1 beef stock cube
  • 1/4 tsp minced garlic
  • Herbs- a sprinkle of each:
  • Rosemary, Thyme, Oregano, Parsley
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp gravy powder
  • Salt & pepper according to taste

Method:

  1. Heat butter/oil in a large pan, add onion and garlic. Sauté until onion is transparent.
  2. Increase heat, add mince and dash of Worcestershire sauce - stir often to break up lumps and cook until mince has browned.
  3. Drain fat or liquid residue.
  4. Add water, stock cube, herbs, gravy powder, salt and pepper. Bring to boil, reduce to simmer and cover and cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. If mince needs thickening add a little cornflour (ie 1 tsp) in water to the mix to thicken.
