Rissoles - from Rose

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ - 2 pounds Hamburger (ground beef)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 medium onion (chopped finely)
  • 1 cup bread crumbs (you may need more)
  • 1 cup fruit chutney if you can get it, or 1/3 cup ketchup if you can't
  • 1 tbs each of garlic, fresh ground black pepper, salt, and mixed herbs
  • 1tsp mustard powder,
  • 1tbs oil.

Method:

  1. Mix all the ingredients together (except oil), this is best done with your hands.
  2. Shape into round balls, heat oil on high in a heavy based frying pan
  3. Turn the rissoles over when one side is browned and slightly crispy (make sure they don't burn).
  4. Cook the other side the same way, turn the heat down to medium and cook through.
  5. Serve with brown meat gravy and mashed potatoes.
  6. Serves 4-6
