Dim Sims - from Rose

I looked everywhere for a Dim Sim recipe, as we can buy in a fish & chip shop in Australia. I could not find exactly what I was looking for, but I found enough to put my own recipe together. Use this if you're brave, I haven't tried it myself yet. If you use this, I'd be very interested in hearing how they turned out. :)

Ingredients:

  • 6 mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 4 ounces jumbo shrimp (prawns) peeled, deveined, finely chopped
  • 8 ounces ground (minced) pork
  • 1/2 cup (4 oz/) finely chopped, drained canned bamboo shoots
  • 6 green onions (spring onions), finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 3 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons rice wine
  • 20 wonton wrappers
  • 4 cups vegetable oil for deep-frying

Method:

  1. Mix first 9 ingredients together in bowl.
  2. Place 2 teaspoons full onto a wonton wrapper, pull corners up together and pinch firmly to seal.
  3. Repeat until all mixture is used - should make about 20 Dim Sims
  4. Fry in hot oil for 4 - 5 minutes, or steam for about 10 minutes.
