Easy Apple Slice - from Wendy

This is delicous, can be served hot or cold, it's kinda like an apple crumble.

Ingredients:

  • 1 packet butter cake mix
  • 1 cup desiccated coconut
  • 125g melted butter
  • 250g sour cream (You may wonder about using sour cream but please trust me)
  • 1 tin pie apples
  • Cinnamon
  • Castor sugar

Method:

  1. Mix butter cake mix (DO NOT add ingredients i.e eggs, milk, water or oil to make cake mix as directed on cake mix box- JUST ADD THE DRY CAKE MIX), add coconut and melted butter and mix well.
  2. Press into a greased slice tin and prick with fork making small indentations - this will allow the mixture to brown evenly on top.
  3. Bake in moderate oven (180C) for 15 - 20 mins.
  4. Allow to cool slightly then spread tinned apples and sprinkle with sugar.
  5. Spread sour cream over top and dust with cinnamon.
  6. Bake for a further 30 mins on 180C. Serve hot or cold.
  7. VARIATION: You can add any tinned fruit of your choice, berries and apples make a very tasty slice. Served hot with icecream is to die for. ENJOY!!!
