New to USA
  • So far I am loving everything....it just feels surreal to actually be here. Kissing Tony goodbye as he goes off to work and driving past the Dairy Queen giggling saying ..."OMG there's a Dairy Queen !" LOL. - Dee (Bernadette)

  • Then she went on to talk about the automatic flushing toilets (ya know, the ones that flush when you're sitting there and then won't do a bloody thing when you're finished!). The automatic taps that you have to sneak up on and trick them into turning on the water - same with the hand dryers. - Lisa

  • I went into the Post Office wanting to pay my telephone bill. I have become so accustomed to paying nearly all my bills through the Post Office in Oz. Wrong move! I received a look from the post office employee which read "Oh look, how cute, he's stupid!" - Jason

Bread in the cupboard stays soft for more than a week! Cheese is orange ... I get in on the wrong side of the bus. People have no idea of what I am saying when on the phone ...   • As a Yank on this board, I wanted to say Happy fourth of July to all...I can really appreciate how everyone has had their ups and downs, their likes and dislikes concerning America...but as a Yank I want to say I wish all well and I hope that all of you continue to enjoy all the wonderful things the US has to offer. No it will never replace your homeland. But I think and I hope that all of you have been made to feel welcome and a little bit at home here in the states - Di from Mich

  • On the up-side - yes, for most of us it does get better. You settle into a life and a routine, and just generally get used to it. Doesn't mean you miss Australia and family any less, just gets easier to bear is all. - Rose
