Steps to Host Explat
  1. Sign up for hosting using the form below.
  2. Check your Hosting Information using the Check Host Details page.
  3. Monitor the Hosting Roster to see when you will host - ExPlat's Journey Page.
  4. Receive notification of hosting by email from the current host and verify your address and availability.
  5. Explat's Visit. Receive him by mail. Enjoy him, photograph him, endorse his passport, and sign his trip journal.
  6. Upload any Explat photos to the Explat's Photo Journal section of the Mates Album.
  7. Go to the Complete Hosting page, and obtain the next host's contact information.
  8. Verify the location and availabilty of the next host by email.
  9. Safely pack and send ExPlat along to the next host.
  10. Go to the Complete Hosting page, and use it to change the current host listing on the website.
  11. Please note that by registering to host ExPlat you are agreeing to bear posting costs to the next host.
  12. If you encounter difficulty in any of the steps above, please contact us.

Note: When ExPlat is visiting your house, please keep him out of harm's way (i.e. kids & pets). It would be lovely to send him on to his next host in the same condition as you received him.

Note: Registration to host ExPlat is open to people who are registered on the Mates Up-over "Find People" pages. Your registration is tentative while we verify that you are registered on the "Find People" pages (We don wan no steenkin' terrorists getting hold of ExPlat.) Registration is also, unfortunately, limited to the 50 United States, at least for now. Shipping ExPlat across international borders is currently impractical. Our apologies to Canadian and Australian residents.

To register for Explats visit, please fill out all the fields in the form below and submit it using the submit button. You will receive an acknowledgement by e-mail containing a password for later use in checking your registration Your mailing address will be shared ONLY with the previous host who will send ExPlat to you. Your e-mail address will ONLY be shared with the previous host and the next host after you.

The hosting order is extracted from the database which is created generally on a first-come, first-served basis, except that we reserve the right to do minor shuffling as necessary to get Explat somewhere he needs to be, (like MatesFest, for example). :)
